Mirabeau Point: Nature Preserve Makes a Home in the Spokane Valley
Inland Empire Paper Company gave 48 acres of Mirabeau Point to INLT
Dedicated in 1999

Mirabeau Point

Together with another nonprofit, Mirabeau Point Incorporated, we are developing the property as an avian sanctuary, nature preserve, and interpretive site.

In 2001 we opened the Mirabeau Springs portion, with a waterfall, boardwalk and picnic shelter. More recently, Inland Asphalt put the finishing touches on an extensive trail system, some of it paved and wheelchair-accessible, and some of it more rustic. The Mirabeau Trails lace between our Mirabeau acreage, the new Valley YMCA, and the Centennial Trail. Trail maps are available at the Valley YMCA.

The Mirabeau Point property was once the Walk-in-the-Wild Zoo. It is within a mile of the Valley Mall, and is on the STA bus route to the mall. In 2002, INLT turned the property over to Spokane County Parks.

Plans are afoot for a Mirabeau Meadows open grassy area, nature signage along the trails, and for a park for children of all abilities. At the southern tip, Spokane County is planning a civic center called CenterPlace, which will house the Valley Senior Center and other activities.
