The Castleberry Easement: Preserving Urban Open Space |
Forest and pasture adjoining Indian Canyon/Palisades Park
Dedicated October 1998
“The conservation easement helps preserve our quality of life. The open spaces and the animals have given us so much over the years. This is our way of giving something in return.” --Robbi Castleberry
The Castleberry easement preserves open space in an area where new houses and offices are increasingly intruding on local wildlife habitat.
Vic and Robbi Castleberry recognized that their way of life would soon go the way of the fast-disappearing open space unless they acted.
Their conservation easement preserves habitat for deer, elk, an occasional moose or black bear, and many different species of birds, and helps buffer adjoining City of Spokane-owned Indian Canyon/Palisades Park. |
