Wildlife sanctuary in Mt. Spokane foothills preserved

Ron and Pat Dexter permanently protect their bird haven

This duckling's home is now permanently protected with an INLT conservation easement. Photo by Ron Dexter.

For nearly 20 years, Ron and Pat Dexter have worked tirelessly to manage their property in the foothills of Mount Spokane as a wildlife sanctuary. With a year-round creek, ponds, springs, an open meadow, and woodlands, the property provides a resting place or home for a wide assortment of wildlife. Over 75 species of birds nest on the property, and about 150 species of birds have visited the property.
