The three conservation easements under INLT’s protection are due to Beryl Baker’s and Janet Baker’s respect for the natural landscape and sense of preservation. Although Beryl Baker and Janet Baker are no longer together, they still share a collective vision with their conservation efforts. Janet Baker summarizes their point of view, “We think a conservation easement can continue to serve the wildlife needs as well as the needs of limited human occupation, much as it has in the past.” The nearly 1,700 protected acres between Beryl Baker and Janet Baker will help to maintain clean watersheds and continue the legacy of a working family forest.
